Retired and looking to start building garage cabinets, I have used Maxcut for my plywood panels. However, we desperately need a Linear Cut List mode for solid wood components like stiles, rails, face frames, and molding.
On another request your team is discussing 'dimensional lumber' in terms of 3D volume, board feet, and nominal sizes. While that matters for wholesale purchasing, it is not what we need for a cut list.
Once we are at the saw, the thickness and width of the stile or rail are already fixed (for example, a ripped piece of stock that is exactly 1-3/4" wide). We are only cutting it along one axis (length).
We need a mode where we can simply define a 'Line Stock' item by its length (e.g., an 8-foot board) and input a list of required single-dimension cut lengths. Trying to trick the 2D panel optimizer by inputting a 1-3/4" wide 'sheet' causes errors in many programs because the dimensions are too small for panel algorithms. A simple 1D linear nesting calculator would completely solve this for anyone making face frames, doors, or trim. I'm surprised the feature isn't already built.
Thanks
